Numb

I was having dinner at home with my dad today while mum was watching a doctor korean series, something like the korean's version of grey's anatomy. My dad happened to turn his head towards the tv screen when there was a surgery scene. The surgeon was cutting the skin with a scalpel and we could literally see the blood oozing out. (btw my dad's terrified of blood and gory stuff like these. He used to joke that the reason why he wasnt with my mother during her labour was because he was afraid the doctors would have to wheel 2 people out of the operating room instead of one)

Neways, when he caught a glimpse of the slicing scene, he was with the "ah yer", disgusted face and quickly turned away. I on the other hand, was watching the whole scene with much interest. I used to not be able to do that because I guessed I inherited that part from you-now-know-who. However,I had started following the grey's anatomy series not too long ago.So obviously I soon got used to all those bloody surgery scenes. I told my dad that I was numb de because I watched all 4 seasons of grey's anatomy and was not spared of any bloody scenes. Not to mention the tv series CSI that I've been following as well, with their gruesome murders and once again bloody scenes.(i've been using a lot of "bloody" haven't i? lol!)

My dad said something that really got me thinking. He told me that my situation is like SIN. First, you may be a bit uncomfortable with the "sins" that you commit. But if you do not stop and keep feeding it, you will soon become numb to it and that sin no longer bothers you. It has become part of your life because you're so used to doing it. Interesting isn't it?

So do not feed sin, or you will find yourself trapped very soon. "Do not give the devil a foothold". This reminds me of the song "slow Fade" by Casting Crowns and this particular verse that says "people never crumble in a day, its a slow fade.."
